Orbilia – Battery Russell senior session
A recent graduate of Astoria High School, Orbilia had her senior session photos at Battery Russell in Fort Stevens. This is always a fun location for multiple reasons. Besides being an awesome senior, Orbilia was great to work with.
Why do I love this location so much? Well the visuals for backgrounds are always off the chain. Yeah, the greens and oranges really work, because of the contrast and interesting look in the backgrounds.
This military base has a lot of great doors and stairs that give many posing options. Also the indoor aspect of some of the locations make it helpful if rain or wind is normally blowing your hair around. Trust me, this can be a challenge on the River Walk or the beach. This also means the interior can be quite dark, which makes off-camera lighting essential.
Of course rain does give some photo gifts. Yeah, the sun too, but which is more common in Astoria? Truthfully, it’s nice that year-round sessions are possible, when Winter is mild. Fun with reflections.
Orbilia plans to attend Clatsop Community College in the Fall. I know with the current covid-19 challenges, that will truly make the future much different than originally planned, but hopefully longterm goals are still doable. Best of luck to Orbilia!
