Ian is a senior at Astoria High School. He’s on the football team and the basketball team, so those two sports were incorporated into his senior photography session. We also shot near the South Jetty and had fun with his families two dogs. With all of that said, let’s get into his awesome session.

We started at CMH Field for his football themed photos. This was great for the establishing photos. After that we moved to the stands and then finally to the locker room.

I always love indoor locations for the ability to completely control all of the light in the photos. This aided in creating some epic edgy photos.

Next we moved to Astoria High School’s gym for the basketball portion. Ian is pretty tall and we had fun getting some close dunk photos. Gym floor reflections are also a blast to feature and we created a nice variety of photos from the gym.

The weather was starting to rain prior to the basketball portion, so we had no idea if the weather was going to mess up our plans for the South Jetty, but when we went outside it was clear and sunny. Simply put, I love it when a plan comes together (hmmmm… where have I heard that before?).

His family brought their two small dogs, so we had to create a fun photo with Ian and them.

The Jetty is always an awesome location. The ocean waves crashing, the sandy beach, massive rocks and interesting aged wooden trestle pieces gives plenty of cool spots to create epic shots.

Ian is planning to attend Evergreen State College and hopes to pursue basketball further. Best of luck to him!
